Normalcy Bias

From Wikipedia:

The normalcy bias, or normality bias, is a mental state people enter when facing a disaster. It causes people to underestimate both the possibility of a disaster and its possible effects. This may result in situations where people fail to adequately prepare for a disaster, and on a larger scale, the failure of governments to include the populace in its disaster preparations.

The assumption that is made in the case of the normalcy bias is that since a certain disaster never has occurred then it never will occur. It can result in the inability of people to cope with a disaster once it occurs. People with a normalcy bias have difficulties reacting to something they have not experienced before. People also tend to interpret warnings in the most optimistic way possible, seizing on any ambiguities to infer a less serious situation.

Even inside the Church most people ignore the warnings God gave us. As we see the world aligning into a scenario we were warned about over 2,000 years in advance, we subscribe to Coincidence Theory and insist that, if it’s true at all, it can only affect future generations after our important, comfortable lives have played out normally.

American Christians are the worst culprits. We subscribe to Coincidence Theory and chant: “It can’t happen here; it can’t happen here.”

Even as it is happening here.

As what is happening, you ask? Complete economic collapse, at the bare minimum–on a scale that dwarfs the Great Depression of the 1930s. Also coming to the USA is chaos, genocide, enslavement, possibly civil war and nuclear fire.

I don’t know the day or the hour of our Lord’s return, and am not setting dates for that. But the United States of America is on the precipice of judgement. Even the wise among the unsaved can see this…through a glass, darkly.

I, and many others, have known for some time how close we are to the end. We have suffered the Cassandra Complex. I myself have stuck my head in the sand, after hearing so many people tell me I was too “gloom and doom,” and concentrated most of my efforts on pursuing personal ambitions as if life was just going to continue on like it always has.

Above all, understand this: In the last days blatant scoffers will come, being propelled by their own evil urges  and saying, “Where is his promised return (the Second Coming)? For ever since our ancestors died, all things have continued as they were from the beginning of creation.”

– 2 Peter 3:3-4

As the evidence piled up for the last 20-25 years, our normalcy bias has kicked into overdrive. I would not be surprised at all if there is an evil spirit specifically assigned to propagate normalcy bias.

A shrewd person sees danger and hides himself,
but the naive keep right on going and suffer for it.

– Proverbs 22:3

There is desirable treasure and olive oil in the dwelling of the wise,
but a foolish person devours all he has.

– Proverbs 21:20

As with so many disasters in my life, I listened to people rather than the Holy Spirit, and allowed normalcy bias to lull me into a trance. Before that, I followed the wisdom given to us via Proverbs (above), but now I find myself in a bad, bad position to face what is coming.

But God, in His supernatural longsuffering, has continued to remind me of His warnings, and the lateness of the hour. I’m repairing my state of preparation as best I can.

My trust is in the Lord. And I am finally doing my part, again.

If anyone is meant for captivity,
into captivity he will go.
If anyone is to be killed by the sword,
then by the sword he must be killed.

This requires steadfast endurance and faith from the saints.

– Revelation 13:10

I’ve made peace with this reality. But until my number is up, I have resolved to carry out the will of my Creator.

Have you?

Come Out of Her, My People

When the Supreme Court acts as just another cog in the Corruption Machine, rather than doing its job, it serves as a wake up call. Once awake for a hot second, people make some noise about Constitutionality. They poke holes in the air with their fingers, making bold resolutions about how, next election, we need to get some good people in office.

Then they go back to sleep.

Come election time, they vote for the same kind of candidates who made the nominations that gave us this lapdog Supreme Court.

And the devil marches on.

Just as the Israelites refused to heed the words of God’s prophets, the citizens of the USA chose to scoff and ridicule when warned in the past of what would happen to us if we didn’t alter our course. Now that the enemy’s grip on the soul of our country is ironclad, some of the former scoffers are finally wondering if maybe they should speak out a little more.

I’m sure that, when the Titanic was nearly sideways as the ocean pulled her down, some of the passengers were finally ready to consider that they should maybe speak out about the danger posed by icebergs.

Then I heard another voice from heaven say:

“‘Come out of her, my people,’
so that you will not share in her sins,
    so that you will not receive any of her plagues;
for her sins are piled up to heaven,
and God has remembered her crimes.”

– Revelation 18:4-5

The above passage is referring to Mystery Babylon. I won’t go into my longwinded musings on what all Mystery Babylon is symbolic of. For this post, I will merely point to evidence of one aspect of what I see as a threefold fulfilment.

Exhibit A:

Rulers all over the globe have made shady backroom deals with the country, and business people will get rich off her.

Rev. 18:3 “For all the nations have drunk
the maddening wine of her adulteries.
The kings of the earth committed adultery with her,
and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.”

Exhibit B:

  • The nation symbolized here is a melting pot of many ethnicities and races.
  • Governments around the world hate her–especially the leadership of the emerging World Government.

Rev. 17:15-16 Then the angel said to me, “The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages.  The beast and the ten horns (kings) you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire.

Exhibit C:

Even though they hate her, the kings of the earth will weep and mourn when she is destroyed.

Rev. 18:9 “When the kings of the earth who committed adultery with her and shared her luxury see the smoke of her burning, they will weep and mourn over her.

Even though she is hated around the world, merchants will weep and mourn because she is no longer there to buy their stuff.

Rev. 18:11 “The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her because no one buys their cargoes anymore…”

I ask you: what nation, what government, what people come to mind when you read those verses?

The evidence shows this is a powerful, influential nation at one point. But after its epic collapse, it becomes so insignificant as to not even rate mention in end time prophecies.

We can identify Russia, China, Iran, Turkey, and dozens of other nations (especially Israel) in prophecies of the end times, but not what is presently thought of as the world’s leading superpower.

So two truths are becoming more obvious with each passing day:

1. Leaders inside the Church who have made compromise after compromise to keep their tax exempt status will continue showing their true colors (which god they really serve) until organized religion in North America is no different from what it was in the Soviet Union.

The true Church has to move underground, and the sooner it does, the better prepared it will be to carry out the Lord’s will after our freedom is gone and life as we have known it is over.

2. The children of Israel are known to the God of Israel. He said He would gather them back to the land He gave them. We have seen this happening since the end of World War Two, but the process is not yet complete. There might still be more Jews in America than in Israel. They are comfortable here, and have enjoyed more prosperity here than they could have in any other country.

Again, that situation will change drastically; and soon.

Whether they have yet accepted their Messiah or not, all the offspring of Israel need to return to the land of their inheritance as soon as possible.

We are now in a grace period. Judgement is inevitable and so close it can be felt, for those who are awake and wise. I won’t claim to know exactly when it is, but that grace period has an expiration date.

And it is fast approaching.

Matthew 25:1 “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of the virgins were foolish, and five were wise. When the foolish ones took their lamps, they did not take extra olive oil with them. But the wise ones took flasks of olive oil with their lamps. When the bridegroom was delayed a long time, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is here! Come out to meet him.’ Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’ ‘No,’ they replied. ‘There won’t be enough for you and for us. Go instead to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 But while they had gone to buy it, the bridegroom arrived, and those who were ready went inside with him to the wedding banquet. Then the door was shut. 11 Later, the other virgins came too, saying, ‘Lord, lord! Let us in!’ 12 But he replied, ‘I tell you the truth, I do not know you!’ 13 Therefore stay alert, because you do not know the day or the hour.

The Basics: Israel’s 70th “Seven” and the Great Tribulation

In Daniel Chapter 9, a prophecy is given about Israel. From careful study, we can infer that the time allotted the nation here is the time in which God deals with the world through Israel and on her behalf (as opposed to the Church Age).

Just as we use “decades” to group years together by tens, so were devout Hebrews familiar with time periods divided into “weeks” of years, or “sevens”–seven-year periods. This concept is evident in Leviticus 25:2-4 when God instructs the Israelites to give the land its due Sabbaths.

Daniel was told Israel would have 70 of these sevens (Dan. 9:24), looking forward. The timeclock started with the decree to restore/rebuild Jerusalem (9:25; Nehemiah 2), but would progress only 69 of the 70 “sevens” until the Anointed One came. If you crunch the numbers, using the proper Jewish calendar (360 day years, correcting for leap years, etc.), you’ll find that 483 years passed between the decree to rebuild Jerusalem (March 14, 445 BC) from Artaxerxes and Jesus’ entry into that same city on a donkey (as prophesied in Zechariah 9:9; the first time, if you study carefully, that he openly welcomed being pronounced as the Messiah King, April 6, 32 AD).

But that’s only 69 of the sevens. The last seven has been set apart. There’s a mysterious gap in between, duplicated in other prophecies, into which the Church fits.

In Chapter 9 verse 27, Daniel says the coming ruler (nowadays usually called the Antichrist) will “confirm a covenant with many for one seven.” Most end-time scholars agree that the “many” are the children of Israel, and that the “seven” is the last one–the 70th. This is what I believe, too. So there is an armistice of sorts between Israel and the rest of the world, to be enforced by this world dictator.

However, as you continue reading, you find that this dictator breaks the pact himself. He puts an end to Levitical Temple worship (a clue as to what covenant he confirmed). And he will set up an “abomination that causes desolation.”

Many sloppy scholars will insist that this prophecy has no future fulfillment because before Christ, it was fulfilled when Antiochus Epiphanes sacrificed a pig on the brazen altar and erected a statue of Zeus in the Holy Place. However, Jesus points to Daniel’s “abomination of desolation” prophecy as being yet future (Matt. 24:15-31; Mark 13:14-230) and triggering what He called “great tribulation,” from which we get the term.

And so, there is one more seven-year period destined for Israel (not necessarily the present political state, but the descendants of Jacob, including those living in Israel). That “week” begins when the coming world dictator confirms a covenant with Israel–providing for a rebuilt Temple and resumption of sacrifices. In the middle of that seven, the beast will desecrate the Temple (Dan. 11:31; Rev. 13:14-15). Then follows “the time of Jacob’s trouble” or “the great tribulation” for the second half of that seven. In the book of Revelation, it is measured out as 42 months; 1260 days; and as “a time, times, and half a time” (3 & 1/2 years).

Some folks refer to the 70th seven as “the tribulation,” and the second half of it as “the great tribulation.” Others mistakenly refer to the entire seven as the great tribulation. Hopefully, the breakdown is a little more clear, now.
